Coherent Astrella - The New Standard in Amplified Ultrafast

Released at the recent Photonics West conference, the Coherent Astrella is designed and manufactured to be at the forefront of an industrial revolution in ultrafast science, and is the culmination of several development projects. Coherent’s expertise as the proven leader in developing and consistently improving high power amplifier systems is combined with advanced, stress-testing techniques developed for the production of their commercial lasers used in demanding industrial applications. Astrella offers the following key specifications:

  • Energy >6mJ, 1kHz
  • Pulse Width <35fs
  • Stability <0.5% rms
  • Beam quality M2 <1.25

This is backed up by affordable warranty packages providing up to five years of coverage. All this enables higher customer productivity and contributes to an overall lower cost of data.

Coherent Fidelity - 70fs, 2W Fibre Oscillator

Coherent's revolutionary ultrafast fibre oscillator platform offers a unique combination of high average power and extremely short pulses in a simple to operate, maintenance-free and compact package.

  • >2W @70MHz average power
  • <70fs pulse duration
  • Built-in, adjustable chirp compensation

Delivering over 2W of sub 70fs pulses at 1055nm, the Fidelity fibre oscillator opens up a broad range of scientific and commercial opportunities in applications as diverse as optogenetics, terahertz generation and fundamental material research. Of course, for ultrafast pulses to be most effective in these types of applications, they must deliver the shortest pulse and highest peak power to the target. By incorporating an adjustable dispersion-compensation system into the laser head, Fidelity corrects for dispersion introduced by downstream optics and delivers the shortest possible pulses to the sample.

BioRay Low Cost Visible Laser

BioRay is a new series of compact, economical diode lasers offering an unmatched combination of features and value for construction of space-limited instruments for Life Sciences and Diagnostic applications.

The lasers are available at wavelengths of 405nm, 450nm, 488m, 520nm and 640nm, with power up to 50mW. They include built-in collimating and focusing optics, self-contained power supply and drive electronics, on-board modulation and communications.

BioRay combines power and flexibility like no other product on the market, delivering:

  • User focusable for easy integration

Compact UV Laser

OBIS LG is the next generation of Coherent’s 355nm CW laser technology, minimising the laser footprint and eliminating the need for a separate controller. The result is a highly compact UV laser with true plug-and-play capability.

OBIS LG is based on Coherent's unique Optically Pumped Semiconductor Laser (OPSL) technology, which allows output power to be varied over a wide range without changing the beam parameters. This, combined with a diffraction limited beam, low noise and high stability, provides unparalleled 355nm laser performance in an extremely compact and affordable package.

OBIS LG is currently available with 20mW output at 355nm. Additional wavelengths will be added in the near future.

High Speed Thermopile Sensor

Coherent has invented a novel, thin-film technology to create a device that rapidly senses thermal changes due to incident laser energy. Unlike traditional thermopile detectors, heat flows vertically through a film that is only microns thick and results in a response time below 10μs, as compared to over 1 second for traditional thermopiles.

These new PowerMax-Pro sensors combine the advantages of thermopile sensors (broad wavelength sensitivity, dynamic range and laser damage resistance) with the response speed of a semiconductor photodiode and are capable of tracing the individual pulse shape of modulated and long pulse lasers from the UV to far-IR.

Fibre-optic Laser Beam Combiner

OBIS Galaxy is a fibre-optic beam combiner for use with Coherent’s OBIS FP range of fibre-pigtailed lasers. It may be used to combine as many as 8 OBIS FP lasers into a single fibre output with FC/APC connector. The individual OBIS FP lasers are available at a variety of wavelengths from 405nm to 640nm, with powers up to 100mW.

Galaxy is a true plug-and-play system that simplifies the combination of multiple laser wavelengths and eliminates the profusion of optical components and sensitive alignments that is otherwise required to perform this task. It is ideally suited for instruments or experiments involving multi-wavelength fluorescence excitation.
