New Partnership with Andor for Imaris Software

27 Apr 2026 Andor

Imaris is the world’s leading Interactive Microscopy Image Analysis software, actively shaping the way microscopic images are processed through constant innovation and a clear focus on 3D and 4D imaging.

The latest version of Imaris 11 3D/4D microscopy image visualisation and analysis software is now available. This update introduces step-by-step Workflows, enhanced batch processing, and cutting-edge tools for advanced object detection and statistical analysis. Imaris 11 is designed to save researchers time, simplify complex workflows, and ensure reproducible, high-quality results across a wide range of applications.

Clear and intuitive workflows for enhanced productivity

At the heart of Imaris 11 is the introduction of Workflows, a step-by-step protocol system that enables users to create, save, and share image analysis processes directly within the software. Workflows streamline analysis by guiding users through each step, making them an invaluable tool for both new and experienced users. Workflows can be exported and imported between datasets or users, allowing for seamless collaboration and reproducibility.

In addition, Workflows can act as Batch protocols, automating complex analyses while also supporting manual intervention steps. This unique combination of automation and flexibility significantly reduces the time spent on repetitive tasks, especially when processing large datasets.

New features simplify complex analysis

  • Object detection inside surface Regions of Interest (ROIs): Users can now define ROIs using automatically or manually created Surfaces, enabling precise detection of Spots, Filaments, Cells, and other structures within specific areas of interest.
  • Channel mask creation: Surfaces and Spots can now be used as masks to create channels of interest in an automated way, simplifying targeted analysis across multiple datasets.
  • Machine learning filters: Advanced machine learning tools improve the detection and classification of Spots and Surfaces, offering greater accuracy and flexibility.
  • Enhanced batch processing: Workflows now support manual editing steps during batch runs, combining the precision of manual adjustments with the efficiency of automation.

Improved visualisation and exploration and data exploration

Imaris 11 also delivers tools to improve visualisation and enable deeper insights into experimental results:

  • Snapshots: Users can now save multiple "Views" within a dataset, including channel colours and display settings, and batch apply them to other datasets for consistent visualisation. Snapshots are automatically added at the end of Batch Workflows for rapid quality control.
  • 1D and 2D Vantage: Imaris now supports the comparison of analysis results between experimental groups and datasets, enabling researchers to explore differences and trends across varying experimental conditions. This new feature provides a powerful way to uncover insights and correlations within complex datasets.

Customer-centric innovation

Imaris 11 empowers researchers with tools for reproducible and shareable results, allowing them to focus on scientific discovery rather than manual tasks.
