Webinar : Developments in Force Measurement, Mechanobiology

Thursday 24 March 2022 : 4pm Auckland, 2pm Sydney, 11am Perth

Mechanobiology is an emerging field of science combining the contributions of biologists, chemists, and physicists. Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) provides the direct tool to measure forces and mechanical properties from atom to tissue level. BioAFM, which integrates AFM onto various optical microscopy platforms, offers the one-stop solution to reveal the effects of the physical forces and mechanical properties on the behaviors and functions of proteins, cells and tissues, and the resulted contributions to development, cell differentiation, physiology, and disease. Along with the expanding success in this field, new requirements have been emerging for BioAFM. To address these requirements, recent developments have been focused on (but not limited to) improved temporal resolution of force measurement for capturing detailed dynamic processes, novel modes for fast and flexible quantitative nanomechanical measurements, enhanced integration with other microscopic techniques, and automation options and intuitive operations for a user-friendly workflow from experiment setup to data analysis.

In this webinar, we will introduce in detail on the above-mentioned developments on our new generation BioAFM platforms (e.g., NanoWizard®V & NanoRacer®) and how the practical applications may benefit from them.
